Cresheim Valley Grain Exchange, open almost a year to the day, is located on Germantown Avenue in Mount Airy. They describe their food as Traditional American with a special chef’s twist. The meats they serve are hormone and antibiotic free and locally raised.
If you are a cocktail lover, the Grain Exchange is the perfect spot for you. They don’t just mix up some of the classics here. They make them extra special with their home made fresh herb and fresh fruit infusions.
If you go snooping around to the side of their building as I did, you’ll notice a big stack of wood sitting there. Turns out they smoke some of that great local meat. You can try some of their smoked pulled pork and ribs. Why not top that off with a smoked Pineapple for dessert? They’ve expanded BBQ menu this summer and your sure to find something delectable.
And speaking of summer…Cresheim Valley Grain Exchange has a fantastic little patio for outdoor dining. The patio is along the side of their building, so there is plenty of shade to keep you cool. It’s also far enough from the hustle and bustle of Germantown Ave, to feel like a nice little private oasis.
We asked the chef what he might recommend on the menu, and he was quick to say, “the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich.” I can confirm that it is, in fact, delicious! As are the pickled vegetables, the deviled eggs, and hand-cut fries.
Given they are located so close to the Wissahickon trail system, might we suggest enjoying an after work stroll followed by a nice relaxing dinner and cocktail…perhaps a refreshing Rowhouse Gin and Tonic or the Itsy Bear featured in the video above. Or start a lazy Sunday with a Cresheim Valley Grain Exchange brunch accompanied by an Itsy Bear and then hit the trails.
Be sure to check out the Cresheim Valley Grain Exchange. They are open Sunday thru Thursday from 11 AM – 11 PM and Friday and Saturday from 11 AM – midnight.
